Systems Operator - Paymark

Paymark is New Zealand’s leading electronic payments company and Kiwis rely on us to ensure that electronic purchasing is available wherever purchases for goods and services need to be made. In our history to date, we have put through 22 billion transactions, worth an estimated $1 trillion, and worked with over 120,000 merchants.

To keep our huge network running smoothly, and due to an internal promotion, we’re now looking for a recent computer science graduate (or similar) to be part of our supportive and friendly Operations team!

This is a rare opportunity for a grad to get their experience in the corporate world and in an organisation known for its development and promotion of its people.

We don’t expect that you’ll be able to hit the ground running, but here’s the gist of what you’ll be doing. As a Systems Operator you’ll help ensure the constant availability of our EFTPOS computer system and related financial services to the merchant and Banking communities.  Other responsibilities include the daily financial settlement, ensuring all parties get paid on time as well as completing all maintenance processes to guarantee the integrity and efficiency of all of our computer systems.

To be successful in this role you’ll be someone who ideally has:

  • A recent University degree in Computer Science or similar (with decent grades 😉)
  • Some scripting/programming experience
  • Experience supporting and monitoring computer systems
  • Experience working on mainframe or mid-range computer systems
  • Able to work on shifts in a 24*7 environment, 7-7 2 days and 2 nights, 4 days off each shift
  • Ability to manage multiple service requests
  • Sound troubleshooting and analytical skills.

We believe in teamwork, and as you’ll be interacting with members across functions it’s essential that you’re:

  • A great team player with really good inter-personal skills and strong written communication.

What’s it like to work here?!

Well we don’t take ourselves too seriously here, we look after our people with fresh fruit, flu jabs, birthday leave, a comprehensive wellbeing program and subsidised massage (I know right!).  We’ve got exceptional people working here and you’ll be joining a really credible and talented team, who are united by keeping the customer at the heart of everything they do.

Become part of our innovative and award winning Paymark team to launch your career!
