The opportunity

 

We are looking for a highly skilled Chief Accountant who will have ownership for the Accounting function at Ingenico UK.  The UK entity (c.£100m revenue) provides payment solutions (hardware, services, solutions) to large acquirers and distributors across the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Nordics.  The role will also strongly support our German and Swiss businesses as well as our latest acquisition, Phos UK.In this role you’ll report to the Head of Finance.  You will work in close collaboration with the UK finance team as well as peers across EMEA and global finance teams, not to mention the business itself.

 

 

As a successful Chief Accountant for your scope, you enable smooth and robust financial closing process, in full compliancy with local and group accounting standards.

  • Accounting positions and financial statements are fully substantiated and accepted by the external auditors.
  • Stakeholders at all levels within the group benefit from your ability to guide to the best accounting treatment in line with financial strategy.
  • Auditors and senior management recognize your authority as an expert in local accounting norms

 

Key responsibilities 

 

  • Ensure all the accounting-related functions of the company are flowing smoothly
  • Lead in identifying, developing and implementing effective internal control mechanisms and drive consistent improvements in accounting processes and routines
  • Review all information collected for the preparation of the general ledger regularly to ensure its accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare the annual statutory accounts and any other statutory reporting in strict adherence to accounting standards
  • Participate in the preparation of reports regarding internal and external audits to ensure accurate information on annual statements is correctly projected. In this respect, you will be the main point of contact to the local auditors
  • Supervise the account payables and receivable activities to ensure timely service delivery to the company, including managing a team of four
  • Ensure financial issues and inquiries are addressed from internal and external customers to ensure satisfactory services
  • Relationship-building is absolutely key :-  HMRC, Banks, Ingenico’s Customers & Suppliers, external auditors, professional accountancy & tax specialists, consultants;
  • Ensure that all transactions are as per accounting standards and systems for compliance (e.g. compliance with Gifts & Hospitality, monitoring of business expense claims on sample basis)
  • Validation and verification of payments for accuracy and accountability
  • Cash Management (handling of the cash landing & factoring processes) and cash budget and forecast
  • Tax Computation – quarterly Corporation tax calculations & VAT returns, and annual tax computation (in close coordination with our external advisor), R&D Tax Credit and Patent Box
  • Insurance policies – working with the brokers to implement annual policies
  • Pension scheme support and contract support

 

Profile 

 

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Economics, Administration and Business Management from a recognized university
  • Big 4 audit background and >3 years of work experience in similar position

 

Important technical skills :

  • You've got a deep understanding of local and IFRS accounting standards. Ideally, you are a Chartered Accountant (CA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)
  • You know how to prepare Tax returns (VAT and Corporation Tax), R&D Tax Credit, and calculate Patent Box relief
  • You know how to prepare Statutory accounts and filing
  • Significant ERP experience and advanced IT skills
