UX/UI Design Manager

This is a hybrid role requiring regular presence in our Sofia office. 

1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a team of UI/UX designers in developing a scalable, cloud-based platform with a robust and adaptive design system.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of a consistent design system, ensuring efficiency, accessibility, and reduced tech/design debt across all products.
  • Act as the bridge between design and development to support long-term scalability and shared ownership, including component approval and roadmap planning.
  • Set the vision for UI/UX assets (wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups) and drive adoption of system standards to ensure UI/UX consistency across teams.
  • Align work priorities with developers to ensure design feasibility, timely delivery, and seamless implementation.
  • Lead user research initiatives that guide cross-product design improvements and define clear user flows and use cases.
  • Track key KPIs (system adoption, design/code duplication, accessibility, stakeholder satisfaction) and ensure effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Improve team collaboration and agility through structured workflows, insight-driven design prioritization, and clear decision-making authority.

 

2. JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field.  Advanced degree is a plus.

  • Work location in Sofia with minimum days per week in the office to manage employees in same location.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a UI/UX design role [of at least 5 years] within an agile environment

    Professional qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of UI design principles and best practices, including accessibility.
  • Proficiency in Figma and its latest features. Storybook, Zeroheight, and Jira tool experience are a plus.
  • Familiarity with working and contributing to an established design system.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS & SASS. Understanding of React framework would be a plus.
  • Understanding front-end development needs and how to manage a team with a strong design system implementation.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design and cross-platform compatibility.
  • Comfortable with remote work and leading virtual collaboration in a global context

  • Team leadership skills and ability to prioritize
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts & technologies
  • High communication skills, capable of articulating design concepts clearly and persuasively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and collaboration skills with technical teams
  • Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
